Professor Cary Deck from the University of Arkansas will be teaching an intensive course "Selected Chapters from Experimental Economics" from January 30 through February 10 14, 2012 in the LEE. Experimental money for ADRA

On December 10, 2011, as a part of his bachelor thesis research "Are Women More altruistic Than Men?" Marek Pekoč conducted an experient based on Dictator Game in which a charity organisation ADRA was a recipient. A representative of ADRA presented their activities to subjects who were than asked to divide money between them and the organization (details on research here). Money raised for ADRA activities from experiment amounted to 3210,- CZK and LEE rounded the total up to 4000,- CZK. Proceeds were then sent to ADRA account. Money will be used to help people of the Horn of Africa.

Rimvydas Baltaduonis in LEE

Lithuanian specialist on experimental economics Rimvydas Baltaduonis from Gettysburg College visited the LEE from December 10 through December 15, 2011. He ran two sessions (session = experiment plus lecture) as a part of the "Principles of Experimental Economics" course at the UEP. Natalia Shestakova, congratulations!

Natalia Shestakova, smart and younger collegue of us pursuing research in behavioral economics, defended on December 8, 2011, her dissertation thesis "Boundedly Rational Consumers and Complex Pricing Schemes" and got her PhD at the CERGE-EI. Some experiments for her thesis were conducted in the LEE (see section Student works). From September 2011 Natalia works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at the Universität Wien (her homepage here). Congratulations! Natalia, we wish you all the best in your future career and personal life.

SME Support from EU Funds Seminar

As a part of the PAOP project "Quality Education is an Effective Investment to Human capital – A Way to UEP Graduate to Succeed on Labor Market; CZ.2.17/3.1.00/32102" a seminar took place on December 14, 2011 in the LEE. It focused on possibilities of SME support from EU funds available in the Czech Republic. The seminar was lead two specialist in the field from Česká Spořitelna Mr. Zahradník and Mr. Jedlička. For details follow the link to the "Teaching at the UEP" section.
