Principles of Experimental Economics

The basic course provided by the LEE at the UEP is “Principles of Experimental Economics”. The identification number of the course is 5EN373. Experiments that are usually part of the course are:  Double Oral Auction, Auctions (First Price Sealed Bid Auction, Second Price Sealed Bid Auction, English outcry - hard ending, English outcry - soft ending, Englich Clock, Dutch Clock), Combinatorial Auction, Trade Game, Trade Game Multi Town, Asset Market, Electricity Market etc. Miroslav Zajíček is the lecturer. Selected Chapters in Experimental Economics

Advanced course “Selected chapters in Experimental Economics” taught at the University of Economics is performend by invited foreign specialists in experimental economics. The identification number of the course is 5EN481. Its syllabus is available here or through isis.vse.cz. This course is open for students of the UEP, IES at the Faculty of Social Sciences, CERGE-EI and also for students of other universities upon invitation (MUNI, EUBA, KU Bratislava etc.). Cary A. Deck, professor of economics at the University of Arkansas (web page here) and the director of the Behavioral Business Research Lab (BBRL) will be the lecturer in summer semester 2012. Advanced Methods in Experimental Economics

The course “Advanced methods in experimental economics” is regularly opened in cooperation with CERGE-EI and IES at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Others courses

An experiment "Auction of tradable emmission rights" was created for educational purposes as a part of the seminar “Principles of of environmental economics”. With necessary modifications, the experiment can be used for other research purposes, e.g. for testing alternative institutional settings of the emissions permits auctions. Petr Šauer is the head of this project.

Extracurriculum activities

LEE organizes a series of seminars on workings of markets in the Czech Republic as a part of PAOP (Prague Adaptability Operational Programme) "Quality Education is an Effective Investment to Human capital – A Way to UEP Graduate to Succeed on Labor Market; CZ.2.17/3.1.00/32102". Standard seminar procedure: two lectures of 90 minutes (one or two lecturers), economic experiment regarding a particular market.
